AOU United

About Us

Our Organization

Who are we?

All of Us United, Inc (AOU) is a social advocacy 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that focuses on community development and community empowerment. AOU  is comprised of five pillars that operate in a synergistic way, with each pillar benefitting and strengthening the others.

Vision & Mission

The mission of All of Us United, Inc. (AOU) is to connect people and communities through their commonalities, while embracing their differences in order to create a more equitable society.  AOU embraces unity by connecting communities and accepting all individuals for their strengths and abilities.

Our Five Pillars

The following five pillars represent our ideals. A pillar is defined as a person or thing regarded as reliably providing essential support for something.

Ability Empowerment

Society is composed of individuals spanning a wide breadth of different communication, cognitive, and physical abilities. There are individuals in different communities who may require additional support and/or instruction in order to fully participate in society or to access items/activities/services that other members of society are able to access. The Ability Empowerment pillar of AOU serves the interests and needs of those members of society who present with different communication, cognitive, and/or physical abilities, as well as the needs of other stakeholders within this domain. Programming includes support in the forms of education and advocacy.

lGBTQ+

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, + (LGBTQ+) pillar of AOU serves the interests and needs of those members of our greater society who self-identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community.  This pillar serves to support the pursuit of a more equitable society for members of the LGBTQ+ community through support of LGBTQ+ businesses, networking, collaboration and inter-community programming to support education and advocacy.

Gender Equity

Equity concerns individuals being treated in a fair manner with regard to obtaining their needs, rather than all individuals being given and treated the same. The Gender Equity pillar of AOU serves to support the pursuit and establishment of an equitable society as it pertains to gender. These pursuits include (but are not limited to) advocacy, equitable access to education, employment, pay, equitable access to healthcare, and access to resources for aspiring entrepreneurs. AOU’s Gender Equity pillar is inclusive of those who self-identify as non-binary.

community development

Community can be used to refer to any group or subset of a larger group that shares commonalities in attitudes, interests and goals. This pillar of AOU targets the development of local communities, which includes groups or subsets of groups. Development can refer to any number of programs that establish (or attempt to establish) equity for a particular local group. Programming and supports may address and include educational needs, tangible resources, the establishing or refurbishing of physical structures, and any other initiative that addresses the needs of local communities to establish equity.

Global impact

The Global Impact pillar encompasses the Special Needs, LGBTQ+, Gender Equity and Community Development pillars, actualized through international service and advocacy in pursuit of the provision of equitable experiences/opportunities for individuals residing outside of the continental United States.
